Serve your community. Build your capacity. Impact our nation.

AmeriCorps engages more than 80,000 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. MAUW currently hosts three AmeriCorps programs. Find more information below.

+ Veterans Resource Navigators

MAUW’s Veteran Outreach AmeriCorps Program seeks to connect Veterans and their families to benefits and resources to become more self-sufficient. AmeriCorps members within this program will increase community awareness by educating Veterans, Service Groups, Public and Private Organizations, as well as, Colleges and Universities; along with assisting in developing a coordinated communications strategy for alerting Veterans of changes in eligibility and identifying underserved areas in the community where outreach efforts need to occur. Also, AmeriCorps members will be trained and educated on the VA claims and benefits process to serve as the community Veteran customer service representatives.

+ Evidence Based Literacy Instruction

Early grade literacy is a critical component to a child's future success. EBLI Corps members provide one to one, small group and whole class opportunities for tutoring and support to students in grades K-5 using the practices of Evidence Based Literacy Instruction. Further, EBLI Corps members work to engage additional volunteers in the communities they serve to provide family literacy activities and support national days of service. In doing so, EBLI Corps members ensure that students in K-3 will reach third grade reading levels and students in upper grades will maintain their growth or improve their reading skills.
