Weekly Wrap Up | Week of September 22

United Way of Jackson County celebrated the culmination of Consumers Energy's this week with their annual Coney Challenge! Now in its 10th year, the Challenge helped raise more $7,300 for the local United Way. This year, Consumer's Energy is expected to donate more than $900,000 to the United Way of Jackson County. United Way for Southeastern Michigan lit a torch in Hart Plaza on September 22nd to celebrate the start of their 2014 Campaign. The campaign, with the theme "Because of You" will aim to raise $42 million to support programs across Metro-Detroit. Read more about the fantastic kickoff event in this Detroit News article


Lenawee County United Way celebrated the kick off of their 2014 campaign with special emphasis on the ALICE Project. Guests had the opportunity to meet ALICE during the Day of Action breakfast, held on September 19th. Learn more about the 35% of households that can't make ends meet in Lenawee County here.
