Want to add meals to a summer program for children? Here's how.

You might still be scraping ice off of your car’s windshield or catching up on lesson plans after a snow day, but now is the time to start thinking about summer activities and meals programs for kids.

In areas of high need, summer meals reimbursement funding is available kids aged 18 and under. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) funding is available through the US Department of Agriculture and administered by Michigan Department of Education (MDE) in our state. Summer meal sites may be reimbursed for up to two meals and a snack per day. Any place where children congregate during the summer months can apply for meal reimbursement, including churches, community centers, schools, housing complexes and more.

Michigan After-School Partnership, in collaboration with Michigan Hunger Solutions, will be hosting an informational webinar on the summer meal application process, meal requirements and more.

The webinar will be held Wednesday March 4, 2015 from 2 - 3 pm.
