2017 Annual Meeting

  • CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN RESORT & SPA

We invite you to join us for our 2017 Annual Meeting and continue the tradition of an affordable, educational and entertaining conference experience for Member United Ways across Michigan. Returning to the Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa, this year’s conference will be held from Wednesday, June 21 - Friday, June 23.

The conference will begin with our new CEO Golf Outing, held on the beautiful golf courses of Crystal Mountain, while staff can participate in a dynamic pre-conference session on utilizing and understanding the recent United Way Worldwide Brand Refresh with Neil Parekh, from United Way Worldwide. Workshops will begin on Wednesday morning. Again this year, we’ll honor our Spirit of Michigan Award Winners at Thursday’s evening reception.

We know that the “one-size fits all” model doesn’t work for each of our United Ways, which is why this year we’re removing “conference tracks” and encouraging participants to choose the workshop that best fits their education needs and interests. We’re excited to offer multi-faceted workshops that will engage participants and allow them to leave the Annual Meeting recharged for campaign season.

We’ve worked hard to keep conference registration rates low. Registration for this year will cost $185 per person and includes a networking reception on Wednesday, June 22,  breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursday, June 23 as well as breakfast and lunch on Friday, June 24.

We hope to see you at Crystal Mountain!

Michigan 2-1-1 Celebration!

  • The Community Room at the Armory

The Michigan Public Service Commission is expected to give final approval to activate 2-1-1 service for St. Clair County at the Commission meeting scheduled for 1:00 pm on December 20.  Approval of St. Clair will complete the build out of 2-1-1 service in Michigan.  2-1-1 service will be officially available to St. Clair residents immediately following MPSC approval.

This vote culminates the efforts of hundreds of 2-1-1 supporters of over the past 15 years to ensure residents in every county in Michigan to dial 2-1-1 have quick and simple access to help in times of personal and community crisis.   Last year Michigan 2-1-1 partners provided over 670,000 referrals for help using comprehensive database with information on more than 28,000 government, community, and faith-based services in every corner of Michigan.

Please join us to celebrate this milestone and hear what’s next for Michigan 2-1-1!

Space is limited so please RSVP by 5:00 pm on Friday, December 16, 2016 to: Janine Thomas at jthomas@uwmich.org

The Community Leaders Conference is the leading edge of United Way’s global movement. It's the connective tissue of 1,800 United Way communities that, when we are working together as a network, form the most significant lever to create community change in the world. Executives and volunteers from Mumbai to Memphis and everywhere in between will convene to share the opportunities, struggles and promising practices that are inspiring and moving our work forward. We will hear from leaders in government, labor, foundation and corporate space, as well as thought leaders in the sector and award winning NGO & United Way leaders. It’s the event where the true scale and scope of the United Way network comes to life. If there is only one event you participate in this year, make it United Way's premier leadership event for leaders by leaders, the Community Leaders Conference.
