Connecting resources for a strong community.

The ALICE-VISTA Connecting Resources for a Strong Community project seeks to connect ALICE populations (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) to needed benefits and resources. In coordination with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, AmeriCorps VISTA members serve to build MI Bridges Community Partner capacity in United Way communities across Michigan.

Across Michigan, 43% of households struggle to afford the basic necessities of housing, child care, food, technology, health care, and transportation.

The exciting new MI Bridges includes more resources than ever through inclusion of the 2-1-1 database. VISTAs mobilize Community Partner organizations to effectively assist ALICE households through MI Bridges connecting them with community resources as well as public benefits.

The Michigan Association of United Ways welcomes AmeriCorps VISTA members committed to serving in the local communities throughout Michigan. If you’re interested in serving as a VISTA or hosting a VISTA at your local United Way, please contact Darek Lewandowski.
