Recently Michigan 2-1-1 received a $200,000 grant from Consumers Energy Foundation to provide matching support to local communities facing significant challenges securing local funding to support 2-1-1 service in 2014-15. Any county or regional 2-1-1 collaborative can apply for funding to cover a portion of their costs for providing 2-1-1 service. The grant requires at least a dollar for dollar match from local communities/collaboratives. For example, if the local cost for 2-1-1 is $10,000 per year and the community has raised or has a clear plan to secure at least $5,000, they can apply for up to $5,000 from this fund to bridge the remaining gap. Matching dollars must be raised since January 1, 2014, but the funds can be from new or existing sources. Applications for the first round of funding are due June 6 and awards will be announced by June 27. Download the application here.
