Statement of Principle

The Michigan Association of United Ways serves more than 30 Local United Ways across the state of Michigan. These Local United Ways represent the unique and diverse communities that make up our great state.

The Michigan Association of United Ways takes the broadest possible view of diversity. We have and will continue to advocate for a state where all people thrive, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, social-economic status, or physical, mental, or developmental disabilities. Alongside our local counterparts, we are committed to the health, education, and financial stability of every person, in every community.

We recognize the immense harm caused by systemic racism. We are committed to utilizing the power of our Network to deconstruct systemic racism and institutional bias, creating space for partnership, and engaging in collective work with United Ways across the state to advocate for policy changes that dismantle inequitable systems.
